Made-to-measure sliding doors in Barcelona

“This was our first made-to-measure project: timber wall panelling. We hoped to align doors, sockets and panels without awkward narrow pieces at the ends, but did not know which material or opening system made sense. Our property in Barcelona made tall ceilings part of the design rather than a delivery-day problem. Both were explained in ordinary language. A small adjustment was needed after fitting and it was dealt with without any fuss.”

“We contacted the studio about sliding room dividers. The brief was quite specific: separate two uses without blocking daylight across the apartment. We could discuss the first version remotely, then confirm the points that genuinely needed checking at the Barcelona property. They asked sensible questions, showed us where the first idea would have caused problems and set out the revised layout clearly. We liked the lack of sales talk. Where standard hardware was sufficient, that is what they recommended.”

“A wall of living-room storage sounded simple until we looked at the access and the existing services. We wanted to hide the router and cables while keeping books and a few objects visible. Because the room is in Barcelona, we asked specifically about uneven historic walls; it was covered in the proposed sequence. Those constraints were dealt with in the drawings, so fitting day was calm and well organised. We were shown a physical sample beside the existing floor. That changed our mind about the colour, fortunately before production.”
